Being introduced at all 344 fair price shops across Rajanna-Sircilla
Iris eye technology has come to the rescue of the State government in ensuring transparency in the distribution of essential commodities through PDS as biometric system has proved a hassle in many ways.
The biometric system fails to identify beneficiaries who are old, or those suffering from diseases as their finger prints change either due to ageing or injury to their fingers.
Given this, the government has started introducing the Iris eye technology at all the 344 fair price shops in the district since January 1.
To witness the working of the technology, Civil Supplies Commissioner Akun Sabharwal along with Joint Collector Yasmeen Basha visited Baddenapalli and Ramannapalli villages in Thangalapalli mandal and Sircilla town. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Sabharwal said the technology would ensure total transparency in the distribution of commodities through fair price shops.
He asked the officials to take all measures to utilise the new technology to the hilt. Later, Mr. Sabharwal met Superintendent of Police Rahul Hegde and Trainee Collector Rahul Sharma. He also visited Sri Raja Rajeshwara Swamy Devasthanam in Vemulawada and offered prayers to the presiding deities.
